Red Bull Cascade freestyle ski contest returns to Solitude Mountain Resort

SOLITUDE, Utah — The world’s top skiers are descending on Solitude Mountain Resort this March for the second edition of the Red Bull Cascade freestyle ski contest, an elite freestyle ski competition designed to showcase the most stylish, hardest-charging skiers in the world.

Confirmed skiers include Gus Kenworthy, Blake Wilson, Grace Henderson, and Svea Irving.

The competition, which runs March 29- 30, will feature teams of three skiers who will compete against each other in a tournament-style ski-off. The bracket format was specifically designed to promote collaboration and imagination, and the athletes will compete on a course designed by Bobby Brown, a two-time Olympic medalist and freeride master.

“The decision to adapt the event into a team-style competition really stemmed from seeing the camaraderie and collaboration that occurred amongst all the athletes last year,” said event mastermind Bobby Brown, “and at the end of the day, that is what Red Bull Cascade is all about.”

The Red Bull Cascade Freeski Contest is an evolution of the classic ski competition format, featuring a team-style competition that combines gravity-defying jumps and tricks with freeride-inspired lines. The competition is open to the top skiers from a variety of disciplines, and each team will compete in a series of three runs. The top-scoring team at the conclusion of the tournament will be named the winner of the competition.

“We are so excited to be hosting Red Bull Cascade this year and have been working closely with Bobby and Red Bull to build a course that encapsulates the diverse talent of this year’s competitors” said Tyler Sites, terrain park manager at Solitude Mountain Resort.
