Jr. Luge World Championships in Norway sees Parkites Greiner, Erickson on podiums

LILLEHAMMER, Norway — Park City’s Matt Greiner earned a silver medal in the mens individual luge at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer on Saturday.

Luge powerhouse Germany won the race, and Latvia was third. Greiner was only .028 seconds off the top tear of the podium. Luge, with is motto, ‘The fastest sport on ice,’ is the only Olympic sport which measures down to the thousandths of a second.

Park City’s Emma Erickson, and her teammates Greiner, Marcus Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa then combined forces to take a silver in the team competition.

Wasatch Luge Club, in association with Youth Sports Alliance, at the Utah Olympic Park, had a big hand in training both Park City athletes.

“Congratulations athletes, coaches and support staff,” USA Luge wrote on social media, and Jeff Greiner, Matt’s dad, wrote in a separate post, “What a way to end the international sliding year.”
