Sundance Mountain Resort to add 100 acres of terrain with new high-speed quad lift

SUNDANCE, Utah — Sundance Mountain Resort is expanding its ski terrain by more than 100 acres for the 2026-27 season, adding a new high-speed quad lift and a 1.7-mile groomed ridge run to the resort’s back mountain.

The expansion, which marks the completion of the first phase of Sundance’s back mountain development, will bring the resort’s total skiable acreage to 605 acres.

The new high-speed quad, named Electric Horseman, is designed to improve access to the back mountain, increase uphill capacity, and reduce congestion on the slopes. The lift will carry skiers and snowboarders more than 1,850 vertical feet per lap, reaching the top of the back mountain in about six minutes.

The new Storyteller expansion opens up an upper-intermediate groomed run stretching 1.7 miles along the ridgeline formerly known as the Far East Ridgeline.

The run features sweeping turns and views across the mountain. The expansion also includes three new gladed chutes that take skiers through tree-lined terrain before reconnecting with the base of Storyteller.

Sundance said the names of both the lift and run are intended to reflect the resort’s emphasis on storytelling and its creative legacy.

Electric Horseman is intended to honor Sundance’s storytelling heritage and encourage guests to create new stories around the mountain experience. Storyteller pays tribute to founder Robert Redford’s vision of creating a place where experiences could inspire stories that guests carry with them after leaving the resort.

The expansion is the latest in a series of mountain improvements at Sundance.

In 2021, the resort opened Outlaw Express, cutting the lift ride to Mandan Summit from about 20 minutes to seven minutes. The following year, Sundance added more than 50 acres of terrain for intermediate skiers and snowboarders and expanded its snowmaking capabilities.

In 2024, the resort opened Mountain Camp Day Lodge, providing day visitors with lockers, a ticket office, ski school, gear rentals, and other services in a centralized facility.
