Back-to-back snowmobile rescues keep Wasatch County teams busy

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The Wasatch County Search and Rescue (SAR) teams were busy these past few days, as three separate search and rescue operations took place in Wasatch County, with emergency responders aiding injured or medically distressed snowmobilers in remote areas.

Snowmobile crash at Nobletts Trailhead
Date: March 8, 2025, 2:41 p.m.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a 911 caller reported a snowmobile accident on Highway 35 above the Nobletts Trailhead. A 21-year-old man sustained injuries in the crash, prompting a response from Weber County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue and South Summit Fire EMS. The patient was transported to the Nobletts Trailhead, where an ambulance awaited to take him to a medical facility.
These incidents highlight the risks associated with backcountry snowmobiling, particularly in remote, high-elevation areas where emergency response times may be prolonged due to terrain and weather conditions. Authorities encourage snowmobilers to exercise caution, wear proper safety gear, and travel with others when venturing into the backcountry.
Snowmobile accident in Co-Op Creek

A 19-year-old woman was injured in a snowmobile accident in the Co-Op Creek area after becoming entangled in the machine’s track. Due to the severity of her injuries, emergency personnel from Wasatch County Search & Rescue and Wasatch Fire responded to the scene. The patient was stabilized and transported via ambulance for further medical care.

Medical emergency at Mud Creek

A 50-year-old man experiencing a medical emergency while snowmobiling prompted a response from Wasatch County Search & Rescue, Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Wasatch Fire, and Intermountain Life Flight. Emergency responders provided treatment on-site before transporting the patient to an awaiting ambulance for further medical attention.
