WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A cyclist has died after an accident involving a touring bus on Pine Canyon Road this morning.
According to a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, the Wasatch County 911 Center received reports of an accident involving a cyclist and a touring bus on Pine Canyon Road near Midway at approximately 10 a.m. Multiple local agencies responded to the scene.
The Sandy man was initially in critical condition, and he was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, where he later died. The identity of the man has not yet been released.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy,” said a statement from the WCSO. “We thank our first responders, including our 911 dispatchers, for serving so well through these tragic situations.”
No one on the touring bus was injured.
Pine Canyon Road will remain closed from the Wasatch Mountain State Park entrance to the intersection of S.R. 224 and Guardsman Pass Road while law enforcement investigates the accident. According to the WCSO, this could take several hours.
