Christian Center of Park City working toward goal of $130,600 for Back 2 School Basics program

PARK CITY, Utah — Today is the final day of the Christian Center Park City’s (CCPC) annual Back 2 School Basics program.

This year, the CCPC hopes to serve 1,306 registered students from  Summit County, Wasatch County and the Confederated Tribes of the Goshutes. The center is working to meet its goal of raising $130,600 to purchase back-to-school clothes and supplies this year.

Those wishing to contribute can sponsor a child for $100, or purchase and donate school supplies and backpacks by bringing them to the CCPC Main Office in Park City, or the CCPC Heber Food Pantry.

Each registered child will receive a new backpack and school supplies. Sponsorships will go toward a $100 gift card that each child can use to purchase clothes and shoes at the Outlets Park City.

“One of the best things about working at the event is seeing the parents and kids come back to the event headquarters with bags of clothes and shoes,” Matt Melville, CCPC director of programs, said in a statement. “Some families work the sale racks and discounts, and some go for a splurge on one special outfit. Either way, the purpose of giving B2SB participants a gift card is to give them the freedom to make those choices and have the empowerment that really increases their confidence and joy at starting the new school year.”
