Park City pickleball pro to play in national league

PARK CITY, Utah — Local city employee Maureen O’Malia has been drafted to the senior pro pickleball tour, the National Pickleball League, earning a spot on the on the Oklahoma City Punishers team.

O’Malia has been making waves in the pickleball world for some time; she recently played in for the Anacondas in London, England. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, and now she’s taking her skills to the national stage.
 
“Spearheading the pickleball coaching program at the PC MARC, Park City’s municipal sports facility, since 2021, I’ve been lucky to help grow the sport in this community,” O’Malia said in a statement. “This new national league is the place where the best of the best go to compete.”
 
The National Pickleball League, or NPL, is the premier league for senior pro pickleball players and is launching this year. 
 
“The Oklahoma City Punishers are lucky to have her, and we’re excited to see what she’ll bring to the court. We couldn’t be more proud. Good luck to her and the Oklahoma City Punishers in the upcoming season,” said a representative of the PC MARC in a statement.
 
Her passion and dedication have helped to make the sport accessible to everyone, and now she’s showing what’s possible on the national stage.
