Victims of fatal Wasatch County crash identified
WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The victims of a multi-car accident that took place on April 18 in Wasatch County have been identified by the Utah Department of Public Safety.
The accident took place on SR 189 at approximately 2:28 p.m. when a 2022 Lucid Air driven by Jeremy C. Pope, 46, of Midway, drifted into a northbound traffic lane. Pope was traveling southbound, and witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
The Lucid Air struck the left front end of a northbound 2004 GMC Yukon driven by Hanani Aiono, 26, of Midway. Both drivers sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Following the crash all travel lanes on SR 189 were closed for 5.5 hours. The Utah State Bureau of Investigation and Major Crash Investigation Team are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
