Two killed in Wasatch County crash

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — The drivers of two vehicles were killed yesterday after a collision on SR 189 near milepost 21.

According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol, a 2022 Lucid Air was traveling southbound at a high speed prior to the crash. As SR 189 curved to the right, the Lucid left its travel lane and went further left entering the northbound lanes.

The front end of the Lucid hit the left front end of a northbound 2004 GMC Yukon. The vehicles came to rest off of the northbound shoulder, and the Lucid caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. Both drivers sustained fatal injuries in the impact, and their names have not yet been released.

The drivers of a Jeep Patriot and Subaru Crosstrek who were traveling northbound also sustained minor injuries, as well as damage to their vehicles as a result of the crash.

All SR 189 travel lanes were closed for 5.5 hours while the crash was under investigation, but are now back open.
