Police Log: multiple burglaries, vehicle pursuit

Thursday, February 9

Burglary

Deputies responded to a burglary report in the Blackhawk Station neighborhood. Upon arrival, the complainant stated someone was able to access his garage sometime during the previous night. The complainant reported the thief stole his $12,000 mountain bike.

Assault

Deputies responded to a report of an assault on Canyons Resort Drive late in the evening. Witnesses stated their 31-year-old male roommate was highly intoxicated and belligerent. The male was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with his ex-girlfriend, who also resides in the same unit. When the argument began to escalate, another roommate attempted to intervene and separate the two parties.

The male punched the roommate in the face with a closed fist, breaking the victim’s eyeglasses and causing injury. The male retreated to his room, where deputies found him and safely took him into custody. The male continued to be belligerent en route to the jail as well as upon arrival.  The male was booked on several charges.

Sunday, February 12

Burglary

The complainant arrived at their Francis area home and discovered the windows and doors outside the home had broken eggs and shells on them. The unknown individual(s) broke into the enclosed front patio door and entered the patio area attached to the home. Inside the enclosed patio area, more broken eggs and shells were found. The complainant’s nephew has been having trouble with other South Summit High School students and believes they may be involved. There are no leads on suspects. The case will be forwarded to the SRO detectives.

Tuesday, February 14

Vehicle Burglary

Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary on Pheasant Drive. The complainant stated that his vehicle was broken into, and roughly $800 in gift cards and possible other items were stolen. There was no physical damage to the vehicle.

Burglary

A storage unit on Rasmussen Drive reported a burglary to deputies. The victim reported that his unit was broken into sometime in the past week, and two $300 JBL speakers and a 75-foot-long HDMI cord were stolen.  The storage unit staff will be working on collecting video footage. This case will be forwarded to Investigations for follow-up.

Wednesday, February 15

Pursuit

A traffic stop was attempted on a speeding vehicle on SR-32. The vehicle fled at a speed over 88 mph until pulling into a residence on SR-32, exited the vehicle, and resisted arrest. The 21-year-old male driver was eventually restrained, taken into custody, and booked on traffic charges and resisting arrest.

Criminal Mischief

Deputies responded to a domestic on Mountain View Drive. The reporting party had stated that his mother’s boyfriend, a 60-year-old male, was heavily intoxicated and was punching holes in the wall. Upon arriving, Deputies found he was extremely intoxicated and had punched several holes in the home’s walls and caused damage to his live-in girlfriend’s vehicle with a machete. The male was taken into custody without incident and booked on charges of DV Criminal Mischief.

Sunday, February 20

Possession of Marijuana

Contact was made with a suspicious vehicle parked on Landmark Drive.  While speaking to the driver, a juvenile male, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched, and 20 THC disposable vape pens were located. The juvenile’s parents were notified, and the juvenile was released to their custody with a court referral.
