Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library fundraiser sets the stage for new HERizon Festival

Park City’s new HERizon Film and Wellness Festival is bringing together women’s stories, wellness experiences and community events while supporting local businesses and initiatives

PARK CITY, Utah — A Dolly Parton-themed movie night is coming to Park City, Monday, Oct. 26, bringing the community together for an evening of denim, film and fundraising for children’s literacy.

Jenna Hansen, founder of HERizon—a Park City-based film and wellness festival that empowers women—is hosting a “Night with Dolly” in partnership with community activator, Kristin Andrus. The event will feature a screening of “Steel Magnolias,” starring Dolly Parton, at the Park City Megaplex.

Proceeds will support Operation Literacy Utah’s efforts to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Utah. Founded in 1995, the program mails children from birth to age five one free, age-appropriate book each month, helping families build home libraries and foster a love of reading early in life.

At about $30 per child annually, HERizon hopes to raise enough to provide a full year of books for 30 children. Operation Literacy Utah is working to secure legislative approval in January 2027 to make the program available statewide to Utah families.

The fundraiser is one of several ways HERizon is bringing the community together as Park City’s arts and film scene enters a new chapter. With the Sundance Film Festival set to move to Boulder, Colo., new opportunities are emerging for film screenings and other events throughout the year, such as The Snow League and Boundless Fest, which are already slated to come to Park City in 2027.

Through initiatives like the Dolly Parton-themed movie night, Hansen hopes to further HERizon’s mission to connect, support and highlight women.

“The Dolly Parton night is kind of an offshoot of what HERizon is: an opportunity to bring women together through film and experience,” Hansen said.

The movie night comes just ahead of the inaugural HERizon Film and Wellness Festival this January.

The five-day HERizon Film and Wellness Festival, taking place Jan. 26-30, will feature three main components each day: morning wellness activities, midday film screenings and presentations and evening experiences. Attendees can choose from activities ranging from fitness classes, breath-work and cold plunges to mahjong, needlepoint and painting.

The festival will also feature local mountaineer Jenn Drummond and spotlight emerging female filmmakers, with one afternoon dedicated to short films written and produced by women. Attendees will vote for their favorite, and the winning creator will receive a $2,000 grant.

Tickets are available at herizonfestival.com/events/ with options for a full five-day pass, a three-day pass or single-day admission, and a portion of the proceeds will be used to support ROAM Humanitarian and Operation Literacy Utah.

Hansen hopes the festival will become an opportunity for women to spend time together while discovering new interests and experiences.

“Make this your girls’ trip,” Hansen said. “You can have a little bit of everything. You don’t have to plan it. Just show up, and it will be a week full of lots of good experiences.”
