9/11 to be commemorated with Heber Valley Day of Service
WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — To commemorate the 21st anniversary of 9/11, an organization named Heber Valley Day of Service is planning a sweeping set of service projects open to any willing to help. The day of service is being organized in conjunction with the National Day of Service.
Because 9/11 falls on a Sunday this weekend, all of the organized projects will be happening on Saturday, September 10. They include projects to clean up areas around the airport, Heber City Park, Heber City Hospital, Deer Creek Shoreline, Valley Hills Park, and more.
Sign-ups for the event can be found on Heber Valley Day of Service’s website, and will remain open until the night of September 9. For those unable to give their time and work, Heber Valley Day of Service is also accepting monetary and food-based donations.
The event is being supported in part by the Wasatch Community Foundation and UServeUtah, but also is made possible by contributions from local civic groups, faith groups, the forest service, school councils, and the Wasatch Parent Network. It represents a considerable degree of unity in support of a more beautiful Wasatch County of the memory of 9/11.
