Main Street supports over 20 unique art galleries

PARK CITY, Utah. – Did you know Main Street alone is home to over 20 art galleries? Park City is a major supporter of the arts and likes to show off its galleries and artists through Gallery Strolls held on the last Friday of each month, Latino Arts Festival, and Kimball Arts Festival weekend. Here’s a spotlight on just a few of those galleries and how they’ll please art critics and lookie-loos.

Old Towne Gallery, Prospect Gallery, Pando Fine Art, Park City Fine Art, and Art Elevated

Gallery collector Colby Larsen has been in business for 11 years and has worked on Main Street for 17 years. Larson first owned Olde Town Gallery and Park City Fine Art and expanded from there.

“Each Gallery has a different vibe, different energy or cadence,” Larsen said. “Visitors can expect a different experience in each gallery both visually as well as energetically.”

Larsen’s galleries bring in artists local and otherwise for meet and greets, releases, and other events. On May 20, Midway artist Jordan Daines will be in Pando Fine Art, releasing her newest series of aspen grove paintings. And on June 24, artist Lindsey Erin from Maine will be at Art Elevated for her annual summer solstice show.

“The uniqueness of all the galleries in Park City is pretty fascinating,” he said. “I think the experience really depends on the viewer and their interaction with the Fine Art Consultants.”

Swartz is an exciting artist on Main Street as she has been a Park City local for over three decades and receives global commendation. Her work was most recently exhibited in Berlin, Beijing, St. Petersburg, and Budapest.

Native Australian David Beavis is a photographer who has earned acclaim internationally for his portraits. Beavis’ photography covers subjects from Utah to Southern France to Cuba, focusing on natural images and scapes. The gallery’s signature collection, the White Horse Collection, is recognizable to many Parkites.

“We offer pieces at a larger scale and with more options for customization than any other gallery in Park City,” said Gallery Director Tristan Adler. “David’s painterly photographic style is unique among photographers in Park City, and frankly the world.”

The David Beavis Fine Art gallery is open seven days a week. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Gallery Mar

Featuring 35 global artists, Gallery Mar uplifts established and emerging artists and celebrates an array of artistic styles and processes since 2008.

“Gallery MAR seeks to educate and inspire collectors while supporting and encouraging nationally known artists,” said gallery owner Maren Mullin. “The diverse array of artwork is consistently changing, yet the standard of artistic talent and superior customer service remains the same. Gallery staff provides comprehensive services in art consultation, site evaluation, custom commissions, and installation.”

During the off-season, Gallery Mar is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gallery Mar can also arrange private art tours for date nights or groups after hours.

On June 19, Park City Gardens and Gallery Mar pair up for its Plein Air “Paint Out” event, where local artists are hosted, and locals are invited to explore the gardens, mingle with the artists, and purchase original art.

McMillen Fine Art Photography

Photographer Jared McMillen adheres to the straight photography school, focusing on natural details and never altering his work digitally. The McMillen Gallery work tends to focus on natural landscapes and wildlife.
Over Memorial Day weekend, the gallery will unveil a new wild mustang piece, “Reflecting,” offered as a limited edition with 25 pieces. On June 11, the gallery will display its new landscape photograph, “The Simply Beauty,” for the month. This landscape piece will be offered in a limited edition of 100.

“Our photographic gallery uses capture and printing techniques dating back to the early 1800s. Currently on display are a couple of very rare platinum palladium prints which are extremely hard and unique to make,” said owner and artist Jared McMillen. “Currently, we are one of a couple galleries in the states carrying these unique prints.”
