Calls for service: Catalytic converter thefts continue while childrens toy thief remains at large
Calls for service to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Park City Police Department for the week of April 25 — May 1.
Monday (4/25):
SCSO: Cannabis farm discovered by police at Silver Creek Estates.
Tuesday (4/26):
SCSO: Several new catalytic converters incidents reported at Basin Rec.
SCSO: Deputies were contacted by a complainant who believed they had found their stolen bike on ksl.com listed for sale. Deputies contacted the individual selling the bike and confirmed the bike for sale was the victim’s bike through the serial number. The bike was recovered, removed NCIC, and stored. The person selling the bike advised they purchased the bike off of KSL for $2,000 last November. They could not recall who they purchased the bike from nor supply a phone number. Individuals are not suspected of the theft.
Wednesday (4/27):
SCSO: A vehicle was stopped near Canyon Resort Dr with stolen places. It was discovered the driver was unaware that his plates were also stolen and replaced with other stolen plates. The driver was released, and the plates were booked into evidence.
PCPD: Park City thief busted after stealing two mountain bikes worth $14K.
Thursday (4/28):
SCSO: Arizona man dies after crashing into power pole in northern Summit County.
Friday (4/29):
SCSO: Deputies responded to the Utah Olympic Park after being dispatched to a theft call. Olympic park maintenance personnel reported the removal and theft of a catalytic converter from one of their tour buses. The catalytic converter is valued at approximately $1500. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. on April 28 and 10:30 a.m. on April 29, inside the gated park area. The surveillance video is being reviewed by park personnel. There is no suspect information at this time.
SCSO: Deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence incident near Sun Peak Dr. After a brief investigation, it was determined that a 26-year-old Park City woman had broken a window in an attempt to enter the room where her boyfriend had barricaded himself in an effort to separate himself from her to prevent further escalation of the incident. She was booked into the Summit County Jail for Criminal Mischief (DV).
Saturday (4/30):
SCSO: Deputy arrived after being dispatched to a theft at the Pendry hotel in Park City. Pendry security staff showed surveillance video footage of a robbery that occurred at 4:17 a.m. on April 27. The suspect appears to be an adult Hispanic male. In the surveillance video, the male seems to be taking toys from a children’s lounge and concealing several toys inside of his jacket. This case remains open pending follow-up by the initial deputy.
SCSO: Deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on East Canyon Rd. The driver, a 30-year-old Morgan, Utah man, displayed physical signs of impairment. Deputies located open beer cans on the vehicle floor and could smell alcohol on the man’s breath. The driver was transported to a Salt Lake hospital due to possible back injuries. After the investigation, the driver was released on a citation for DUI and remained at the hospital.
SCSO: A 38-year-old Kemmerer, Wyoming man, was returning to Wyoming with his wife. The man went into cardiac arrest while traveling in the vehicle. Deputies and medical staff assisted the male at the Outpost gas station in Wanship before he was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical staff, so a detective and OME were contacted to respond. The 38-year-old male and his wife had been at an event in the Salt Lake valley earlier in the day. The male began feeling ill at the event. The cause of death is unknown and will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
