World Cup at Deer Valley moves to daytime schedule
PARK CITY, Utah — Due to the slow start to the winter weather pattern and an earlier than usual calendar date, the 2022 Freestyle International World Cup at Deer Valley Resort has moved to a daytime schedule.
The shift to daylight hours “will allow for a smaller venue footprint and will require less demand for snowmaking,” Deer Valley Senior Communications Manager Emily Summers said.
“Although Mother Nature’s reluctance to deliver snow and cold temperatures and the early event dates presented some challenges, Deer Valley remains committed to hosting the 2022 Intermountain Healthcare Freestyle International World Cup for the talented Olympic hopefuls,” Deer Valley Vice President of Mountain Operations Steve Graff said in a statement. “Given our current snowmaking trajectory, our team is confident that adjusting the event schedule will allow us to host a successful World Cup as we’ve done for the last 24 years of holding elite international ski competitions.”
