Truck driver used diesel fuel to clean rig in Parley’s Canyon
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) and the Salt Lake County Health Department are investigating a diesel fuel spill in Parley’s Canyon, according to KUTV’s Jeremy Harris.
UHP said a dump truck driver used diesel fuel to clean asphalt off a truck near the quarry exit in Parley’s Canyon. The driver was trying to clear the truck of asphalt so that it could haul gravel.
This caught my attention on the scanner this morning – a dump truck driver used diesel fuel to clean out their rig in Parley’s Canyon. They just let 20-30 gallons of fuel spill onto the road like it was nothing. https://t.co/OxyKETmoOF @KUTV2News @UTHighwayPatrol pic.twitter.com/Lfej087tFD

Nicholas Rupp, a spokesperson with the health department, said the spill only affected the soil underneath the vehicle and did not get into the storm drain. He said the driver’s company will be held responsible and potentially may face a penalty.
