Midway Ice Castles moves to Soldier Hollow

MIDWAY, Utah. – The Ice Castles, a popular attraction, is moving from the Homestead Resort to the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center.

The frozen experience features tunnels, caverns, towers, fountains, slides, and crawl spaces built entirely from icicles that are grown on-site, harvested, and hand-placed by professional ice artisans. This season, you’ll be able to add a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Wasatch Valley to your visit.

“We are excited to partner with Soldier Hollow Nordic Center to bring the magic of Ice Castles back to Midway this winter,” said Ice Castles’ CEO Kyle Standifird. “Our mission is to give people a place where they can escape from the hustle of daily life for a moment and step into a frozen fairy-tale world while creating a fun and safe outdoor experience.”

Ice artisans will begin growing icicles to create the winter attraction begins as early as November. A team of at least 20 ice artisans will spend about 8-12 weeks building the experience. Ice Castles typically opens in late December or early January, depending on the weather, and remains open until late February.

Tickets to visit the frozen fortresses will be available in December on the company’s website, icecastles.com. The Utah-based company has five Ice Castles locations in the United States. Aside from Midway, you can also find Ice Castles in Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and New York.
