Give your input to the Redistricting Committee
PARK CITY, Utah — Every ten years, the Utah Legislature redraws district boundaries based on the results of the most recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
This year, the Legislative Redistricting Committee is giving Utahns a chance to draw their own districts for Congress, the State House and Senate, and the State Board of Education.
Leadership Park City Class 27 recently announced their class project that is focused on informing the community about redistricting maps. They are hosting a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, September 29 at 6 pm to discuss the project. You can RSVP for the meeting here.
The Redistricting Committee is holding public hearings across the state. They will be in Park City on Friday, October 8 at 6 pm. The exact location is currently not announced.
You do not have to draw a map for each category. Below is a tutorial playlist for how to use the map-drawing software.
Despite being open to public input, state Republicans completely control the redistricting process. The GOP-controlled state legislature can modify or reject the independent commission’s proposals. The final map has to be passed by the legislature and signed by Gov. Spencer Cox.
