LIVIGNO, Italy — Alex Hall, a product of the Park City Ski & Snowboard club and the Winter Sports School in Park City, added an Olympic silver medal to his collection in the men’s freeski slopestyle on Tuesday, becoming the first Park City athlete to medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games.
Hall, the defending Olympic champion from Beijing 2022, fought through a tough first run that scored just 52.65 before delivering an 85.75 on his second run — the highest single-run score of the competition at that point. A slip on his third run left him unable to improve, but the 85.75 held up for silver.
Norway’s Birk Ruud took gold with an 86.28, edging Hall by just over half a point. New Zealand’s Luca Harrington earned bronze with an 85.15 on a clutch third run.
Hall’s silver marks his second career Olympic medal and improves on his bronze at the 2025 World Championships. It was also the second medal of the day for Team USA, following Ben Ogden’s silver in cross-country skiing.
