Police Log: Stolen lift tickets reported at Deer Valley; several DUI arrests

Monday, February 2

Incident: Suspicious
A motorhome was observed parked on Royal Street near the Rossi Hill Trailhead. The caller believed someone may have been sleeping inside.

Incident: Suspicious
A caller on Kearns Boulevard reported a man knocking on windows and doors and claiming his aunt lived at the residence.

Incident: Suspicious
A caller at Deer Valley Resort reported a surge in stolen lift tickets potentially connected to an employee terminated for theft on January 26.

Incident: Non-injury accident
A three-vehicle crash occurred near mile marker 11 on SR-224. No injuries were reported and all vehicles were moved to the center turning lane.

Incident: Wildlife problem
A caller reported striking a deer near Kearns Boulevard and E Richardson Flat Road. The vehicle was not damaged, but the deer was believed to be injured and in the roadway.

Tuesday, February 3

Incident: Natural gas utility
A possible gas leak was reported on Royal Street. Six occupants were present and none reported illness, though one person had a bloody nose that may have been caused by dry air.

Wednesday, February 4

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported a loud party at an Aspen Apartments building on Kearns Boulevard but was unable to provide an exact address.

Incident: Parking problem
A vehicle was reported parked on Sidewinder Drive for approximately 48 hours, making it difficult for a resident to exit their driveway.

Thursday, February 5

Incident: Business assist
Staff at a Deer Valley Drive ticket office reported stolen employee vouchers being used by multiple individuals and requested an officer respond.

Incident: Suspicious
A caller on Park Avenue reported a man outside a store who was making her feel uncomfortable.

Incident: Non-injury accident
A Toyota RAV4 was struck by a rental Ford Expedition at 13th Street and Woodside Avenue. No injuries were reported.

Friday, February 6

Incident: Theft
Trails and Open Space staff reported an EcoCounter trailer used to collect trail usage data was stolen from the Miners Hospital Community area.

Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a vehicle for multiple violations and detected the odor of alcohol. Following an investigation, the driver was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Saturday, February 7

Incident: Unwanted person
A petitioner on Sullivan Road reported a protester standing at her table and behaving rudely toward her and others.

A caller reported a man harassing customers near the entrance of a bar on Main Street.

Incident: Suspicious
A group of juveniles was reported gathering in a Richardson Flat Park-and-Ride lot with a butane torch and a homemade potato gun which they built as a school science experiment.

Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a vehicle for equipment and moving violations and observed signs of impairment. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The driver was medically evaluated at Park City Medical Center and released on citation. The vehicle was state tax impounded.

Incident: Drugs
A traffic stop resulted in the discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver had multiple active warrants and was arrested and booked.

Sunday, February 8

Incident: Traffic stop
Officers stopped a vehicle reversing in the travel lane on Deer Valley Drive near Main Street, creating a traffic hazard.

Incident: Alcohol offense
Deputies stopped a vehicle near mile marker 145 on I-80 westbound and determined the driver, a restricted operator, had consumed alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and the vehicle was state tax impounded.

Incident: DUI
Deputies observed multiple moving violations on SR-248 and conducted a traffic stop. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
