Hanksville sees extensive flooding

HANKSVILLE, Utah — A long period of rain on Wednesday resulted in the Fremont River, Muddy Creek, and Dirty Devil River rising immensely near Hanksville, Utah.

“State emergency officers are assisting local officials in Hanksville and surrounding areas this morning,” said Governor Spencer Cox. “We are grateful for the safety of everyone and quick action of first responders to the flooding last night.”

As of Friday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) is reporting that the waters have receded and the Flood Warning has expired. However, Wayne County said that significant mud and debris have been left behind.

“Remember: turn around, don’t drown! Water this deep can move vehicles,” the NWS said.
