A Freshmen football first

PARK CITY, Utah. — At Dozier Field last night the PCHC Miners Freshman Football Team hosted adjacent county rivals the Heber City Wasatch Wasps. Wasps with the win 33 – 15. Although most of these athletes have met each other on the gridiron previously through the years of robust youth football programs in Park City, this marked the first Thursday night home rival game as High School freshmen.

The score was 27 – 7 at the half with Wasatch up.

A family affair, younger siblings tossed balls back and forth next to the bleachers which were full of approximately 50 family fans. Among those in attendance were rostered Jeremiah Marsh’s parent’s Joel and Casey and older brother Calvin. Joel said, “It’s a great atmosphere having so many fun families here.”

The Miners have gone up this season against Green Canyon from Logan and came away with another loss but that didn’t dampen the support of other Park City family members from coming our last night to cheer their team on. Luke Trombley’s parents Jeff and Tory and his older sister Ella all watched. Tory said, “The spirit of the freshmen football community is unwavering and unmatched.”

A rainstorm accompanied by lighting forced a delay-of-play interruption which once, resumed made it a late night on a school night. That didn’t chase away Leo Rabin’s parents, Scott and Bryna, and older brother, Max. Bryna said, “It was a good game and it’s nice to see so much team sportsmanship and team spirit.”

The Park City Miners next play another home game against the team from Provo. The game starts at 5:30 on Thursday.
