Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs
Three different incidents at three different convenience stores highlight the calls for service made to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff Department (SCSD) for the week of July 26 – August 1.
MONDAY:
SCSD – A backpack that contained a handgun was stolen out of the bed of a pickup truck at Norway Flats off Mirror Lake Highway. The owner of the gun had left the backpack in the back of the truck while hiking with a friend. There were no witnesses.
TUESDAY:
SCSD – An E-Bike that had been locked outside the Basin Rec Fieldhouse was stolen. Security footage showed that the lock was cut and a man rode away on the bike. GPS showed sporadic locations, the last one in Salt Lake City.
SCSD – An intoxicated man was arrested at his home without incident after his live-in girlfriend called 911 from the 7-11 on Silver Creek Dr. The man had been making threatening her with physical violence at the store before returning to the home where deputies found him.
WEDNESDAY:
SCSD – At the Moore’s Chevron in Coalville, a car pulled into the lot where deputies observed the driver not get out to pump gas. The suspect’s current driver’s license status was known to be invalid, and the registration status was invalid. The car drove away and was pulled over by deputies on Main St. Before contact could be made, the man then drove off, failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued until a successful PIT maneuver was conducted on Chalk Creek Rd. The man then fled on foot before being taken into custody. The vehicle was towed state tax by Moore’s Chevron and Towing. The suspect was transported to the Summit County Jail without incident.
SCSD – On Hoytsville Rd., a man entered a garage and drove away in the Chevy Traverse of the neighbor who called authorities who is also a family member of the Chevy owner. Deputies arrived, located the stolen car and arrested the driver.
FRIDAY:
SCSD – In Samak, the doors on an RV were left unlocked and subsequently an unknown amount of cash was reported missing as well as a Mastercard, which was used at the Dollar Tree in Heber.
SATURDAY:
SCSD – A passenger of the vehicle, identified as a 47-year-old Park City man, had entered 7 Eleven prior to a deputy making contact with the driver. It was discovered during the investigation that the passenger of the vehicle also had multiple active warrants for his arrest. Deputies searched the area for the passenger, but he was not located at the scene. The passenger was later located at his father’s residence nearby, where he was taken into custody. The passenger was transported to the Summit County Jail where he was booked in without incident.
