Salt Lake Search & Rescue assist with injured hiker at Devils Castle
SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — Around 10 pm on Wednesday, the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SLCOSAR) team was called out to an injured hiker doing the Devils Castle traverse.
United Fire Authority medics were able to splint the patient’s leg. The rescue took over four hours.
The hiker was able to hobble through some parts of the ridge with help.
Once they made it back to the saddle between Devils Castle and Sugarloaf, he was placed on a stretcher and carried by Search and Rescue team members.
Once they made it back to the top of the Sugarloaf lift, the patient was transported via truck.
“The carry out was very physical and ropes to raise and lower the little were used in several places,” SLCOSAR said in a statement.
