Time to Sign up to Run With Ed

PARK CITY, Utah. — Mark your calendars – Running with Ed will fill city streets with silliness and energy this spring on May 22. Registration for the race is open now and teams can sign up here. Deadline to register is May 14.

Running With Ed (RWE) is a celebratory, family-friendly relay race taking runners from school to school around Park City trails to raise money for the Park City Education Foundation.

Running with Ed is the second largest fundraiser for the Park City Education Foundation (PCEF) behind the Red Apple Gala and ahead of Beat The Call, all of which raise money for Park City teachers, students and schools. This year’s fundraising goal is $250,000.

“This is one of the few school districts in the country that has been open so successfully all year,” said Jennifer Billow, PCEF associate director of communications and development/event organizer. “It’s time to give back to them.”

The 2021 version of RWE will be a 21-mile, six-leg relay race. Teams of up to six people will choose their starting locations and times when they register.

Based on previous years, an estimated 1500 runners (200 teams) may participate. To comply with county mandates restricting gatherings, teams will stagger start times and locations at school campuses around town rather than at one start and finish line. Teams will finish where they began.

To keep as much money flowing into public schools as possible, there will be no medals or T-shirts this year. But sponsors including Vail Resorts and Park City Mountain will help guarantee fun swag in participant bags.

A beloved aspect of the race through the years has been zany, creative costuming. Covid will not alter that tradition, so runners are encouraged to start planning their getups now.
