Park City Government’s Traffic Mitigation Efforts go High-Tech

PARK CITY, Utah. — During peak ski season, daily alerts to avoid car travel between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. hit the social media feeds of Park City locals. That’s why Park City Municipal wants residents to “know before you go” and subscribe to its text messaging service to receive real-time traffic alerts. To sign up, text ‘RIDEON’ to 888-777 and be a part of the solution for traffic mitigation in the area.

Another option specifically for Park City Municipal staff, as well as employees and partners at Park City Mountain, Canyons Village Management Association, and Deer Valley Resort is to take part in the Ride On Park City program. The program’s goal is to “Save time, money and reduce your impact” by matching users with fellow employees who have similar routes to take. If you are an employee at one of these businesses, get started by simply registering for an account online and download the app “Commute Tracker” by RideAmigos.

So far, the program’s goals to save money, get healthy, save time and go green have resulted in $52,581.90 saved, 300,000 calories burned and 46.1 tons of CO2 reduced with a total of 15,000 alternative trips taken.

Here are some videos to help with registration and app download.
