Film Screening and Panel with Citizens’ Climate Lobby

April 10 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

The Wasatch Back chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will host an evening of film screenings and a panel discussion at the Jim Santy Auditorium on April 10 at 6pm. The films – Going Greenland and Downstream: a Backcountry Ski Film about the Shrinking Great Salt Lake – both explore the connection between skiing and climate change, and will be followed by a panel of local community members. While the event is free and open to the public, donations are suggested and will help CCL fund scholarships for students interested in attending a national lobby day in D.C. this June.

The panel will be moderated by Park City High School senior Montana Burack and will include:

  • Megan Dingman, local athlete and climate activist
  • Thorne Merrill, environmental scientist, skier, and athlete featured in Downstream
  • Zach Coury, botanist, photographer, and creator of Downstream film
  • Hailey Keller, previous CCL National Conference scholarship recipient

CCL is also hosting this event to raise scholarships to send students to attend the organization’s national conference and lobby day in Washington, DC in June. The conference is three days and filled with panels and trainings regarding climate and advocacy. Attendees learn how to lobby and work with their local groups to have productive conversations and build authentic relationships with their representatives.

Doors will open at 5:30pm and the movies will start at 6pm. Drinks and small bites will be provided. Please register here: https://bit.ly/CCLWasatchBackFilm

About Citizens’ Climate Lobby

Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address the national and global climate crisis. The organization trains and supports volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media, and their local community. CCL volunteers are organized into hundreds of local chapters across the U.S. and internationally. By focusing on shared values rather than partisan divides, CCL builds relationships with community leaders, local and state elected officials and with Congress, always starting from a place of respect and appreciation.
