PCHS students aim to stock local pantries with annual holiday food drive

The National Honor Society drive collected more than 35,000 pounds of food last year
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City High School’s National Honor Society will launch its annual food drive Dec. 1, collecting food and essential items for local organizations through Dec. 17.
The student-led drive collected more than 35,000 pounds of food last year and is one of Utah’s largest food drives of its kind, according to PCHS National Honor Society representative Evelyn Lerner.
Donations support the Christian Center of Park City, Peace House, and other local organizations serving families and individuals throughout the community.
This year, residents can donate nonperishable food, feminine hygiene products, and winter gear.
Collection barrels provided by the Christian Center of Park City will be available throughout the drive at Park City High School, Ecker Hill Middle School, Trailside Elementary School, Jeremy Ranch Elementary School, Parley’s Park Elementary School, and McPolin Elementary School.
National Honor Society students will also host “Grocery Days” at local grocery stores, where students will collect food and monetary donations from shoppers.
“The success of the PCHS NHS Food Drive is dependent on community involvement, and all help is appreciated,” Lerner said.
The drive runs Dec. 1-17. Community members can also expect PCHS National Honor Society students to collect donations at participating local grocery stores throughout December.
