Family raises funds after Heber City teen dies in I-80 Crash

HEBER CITY, Utah — A 19-year-old Heber City man was killed early Sunday morning in a rollover crash on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Cashton Gamble was pronounced dead at the scene after the BMW he was traveling in left the westbound lanes of I-80 near 6200 West at about 3 a.m. Sunday and rolled down an embankment, UHP reported.

Gamble was partially ejected from the vehicle. A 21-year-old male passenger was also injured and transported to a local hospital in critical condition with multiple broken bones and head injuries, according to UHP.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, UHP stated. Speed and impairment are also being investigated as possible contributing factors. UHP has not released additional information about what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway,  and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Gamble’s family is now raising money to help cover expenses following his unexpected death.

Anna May, Gamble’s aunt, started a fundraiser on GoFundMe on behalf of her sister, Sara, and the family. According to the fundraiser, donations will help cover funeral and cremation expenses, medical bills, and household costs as the family navigates the loss.

Some of the funds will also go toward completing Gamble’s BMW build, a project that held special meaning for him and that his family hopes to finish in his memory.

“Any support helps,” the family said in the fundraiser, asking for donations and prayers as they grieve.
