Registration opens for age 50+ at the World Senior Games in Southern Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah — Registration is open for the 2026 Huntsman World Senior Games, set for Oct. 5-17 in Southern Utah.

The event features 43 sports, with individual competitions taking place during smaller date windows throughout the two-week event.

“The nice thing about bikes is that you can keep riding them as you get older,” past participant Alison Cormier, 63, says on the Games’ website. “Like Albert Einstein famously said, ‘Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.’”

Athletes generally must be at least 50 years old by Dec. 31, 2026, with competition age based on their age at the end of the year.

Exceptions apply for track and field, race walk and power walk, where competition age is based on an athlete’s age on the official first day of the Games. Participants in social golf, bike tours and walking tours may compete beginning at age 18.

For partner and team events, age divisions are generally determined by the youngest member of the team or partnership, though some sports use combined or average ages.

Individual and partner divisions typically run in five-year increments beginning at ages 50-54 and continuing through 100 and older. Team divisions begin at 50 and older and extend through 85 and older.

Organizers recommend that athletes consult their physicians before competing and prepare and train appropriately for their events. Officials and sport directors may determine whether an athlete can continue competing following an injury.

Sports include archery, basketball, biking, bowling, climbing, cornhole, cowboy action shooting, cycling, disc golf, golf, horseshoes, mountain biking, pickleball, power walking, race walking, racquetball, road races, indoor rowing, shuffleboard, soccer, softball, square dancing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, trail running, triathlon and volleyball.

The Games also provide free shuttle service between participating hotels or the Dixie Convention Center and competition venues.

Events beyond competition include an opening ceremony, concert, Friendship Festival, health screenings, a community health fair, awards ceremonies and a Hall of Fame banquet. Longtime participants are also recognized for 15 years of participation and at subsequent five-year milestones.
