LOGAN, Utah — The Park City High School varsity boys football team fell 31-9 to the Ridgeline Riverhawks on Friday night, marking the Miners’ second loss in as many games under new head coach Dennis Cunningham.

The nonregion matchup included a 30-minute lightning delay.

Park City scored first when its defensive pressure forced a bad snap on a Ridgeline punt attempt. The ball sailed out of the back of the end zone for a safety, giving the Miners a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter.

The Miners’ defense kept Ridgeline scoreless through the first quarter, but the Riverhawks responded and carried a 16-2 lead into halftime.

Park City narrowed the deficit in the third quarter when senior quarterback Josh Hofer connected with senior wide receiver Brogan Price for a 60-yard touchdown, bringing the Miners within seven points at 16-9.

Ridgeline pulled away from there, scoring 15 unanswered points to secure the 31-9 victory.

Park City will face Morgan High School at 7 p.m. Friday at a neutral site at South Summit High School in Kamas.
