PCHS Miners mountain bike team takes 7th in state championships

ST. GEORGE, Utah — Park City High School’s mountain biking team finished seventh at the Utah High School Cycling League State Championships in St. George over the weekend, competing against teams from across the state in a multi-day event that saw temporary postponements due to historic rainfall across the Four Corners region.
The Miners compete in Region 3, one of six regions in the Utah High School Cycling League, and race in Division 1.
Senior riders who turned in notable performances at the state championships included Patrick Senkier, Izzy Crandall, Lilly Stensen, Bailey Graff, and Emilee Brackeen.
Park City’s cycling team includes student-athletes from several local high schools, as well as online schools and homeschool programs, rather than exclusively Park City High School.
Earlier this season, the Park City Mountain Bike Team hosted a home meet at SoHo.
Pete Stoughton is the team manager and head coach, and Keren Mazanec is the team director. Mazanec oversees team-building activities like the ‘Tour de Smoothies,” organized by the team’s Girls Riding Together (GRIT) group.
