Park City’s Silver Summit Academy introduces new online program

PARK CITY, Utah — Silver Summit Academy describes its junior high and high school experience as a “world-class education without borders” as the established brick-and-mortar school expands its offerings to meet changing approaches to teaching and learning.

For 10 years, Silver Summit Academy has built a reputation in Park City as one of Utah’s most impactful public learning environments. Its students have excelled beyond the classroom as collegiate champions, principal dancers, engineers tackling complex challenges and young entrepreneurs launching businesses.

Now, the school is extending its academic philosophy beyond campus with the launch of Silver Summit Academy Online.

Enrollment opens Aug. 3 for the new online school, which will serve students in grades seven through 12. Designed for students who need flexibility without sacrificing academic depth, the program will provide a fully portable, tuition-free public education to Utah residents.

“We have worked hard to build the reputation of Silver Summit Academy as a rigorous and effective institution,” Principal Jeff Greiner said in a statement. “And we intend to transfer that philosophy to our online program.”

The expansion reflects growing demand from families whose schedules require mobility because of elite athletic training, performing arts commitments, travel or independent learning styles.

Rather than relying on a standard plug-and-play digital model, Silver Summit Academy Online will focus on college readiness, independent critical thinking and structured accountability.

By making rigorous coursework accessible from anywhere in the world, the academy aims to support students whose ambitions extend beyond traditional school hours.

Silver Summit Academy has become known in Park City for both academic and athletic achievement. In sliding sports alone, its student-athletes have gone on to compete in junior World Cups, junior world championships, the Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Games.

The school operates under the administrative umbrella of the South Summit School District.

Tuition is free for Utah residents, but space in the online program will be limited because of the school’s commitment to providing individual support.
