WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A fire destroyed a home under construction Friday in the SkyRidge Mountain Community near the Jordanelle Reservoir, according to the community’s homeowners association.

The fire was fully contained and extinguished, and no injuries were reported, association manager Chris Cottis said in a statement Saturday. The association said there was no danger to the community or surrounding areas.

“We are grateful for the quick response by the Wasatch Fire District and for their expertise to contain the fire safely and swiftly,” Cottis said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wasatch Fire District.

Friday’s fire is the second to destroy a structure under construction at SkyRidge in recent years. In November 2023, a 40-stall equestrian barn on the west side of the Jordanelle Reservoir was declared a total loss after a fire broke out at about 7:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames, according to Jason Provost, then assistant chief of the Wasatch County Fire District. No animals were inside, and early morning construction crew members first spotted the flames and called 911. The cause of that fire was also placed under investigation.

SkyRidge is a residential development on the west side of the Jordanelle Reservoir between Park City and Heber City.
