Evacuation status eases for parts of Henefer amid Rocky Canyon Fire

HENEFER, Utah — Some areas of Henefer are moving from “GO” to “SET” evacuation status as crews continue to battle the Rocky Canyon Fire, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents in the affected areas may now return home, but the fire remains active and conditions can change quickly.

The areas now in “SET” status include:

East of 300 West to I-84 in Henefer
South of Franklin Canyon to Icy Springs/Wohali Way
South of SR 65, west of 300 West and South Henefer Road
West of Main Street between East Canyon Road and South Henefer Road
Hog Back Summit to West Henefer Road

Residents returning to their homes should remain vigilant, be prepared to evacuate again if conditions change, and continue monitoring updates from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency management agencies.

Officials warn the fire can also continue to pose hazards even in areas where there are no active flames. Ground, vegetation, and other fuels can remain extremely hot for an extended period of time and could reignite under the right wind conditions.

The potential for flooding and debris flows in and around the fire’s burn scar also remains elevated. Emergency management personnel are working to mitigate those risks and are prepared to respond if flooding or debris flows occur.
