Summit County seeks senior input on future programs and services

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County is inviting older residents to help shape the future of its senior programs and services during two community meetings this week.

The first session will be held Wednesday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to noon at the North Summit Senior Center, 150 Park Road in Coalville.

A second meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, from noon to 1 p.m. in the auditorium at the South Summit Senior Center, 110 N. Main St. in Kamas.

Residents may attend whichever meeting is most convenient, according to a county announcement.

The meetings are part of Summit County’s ongoing strategic planning for senior citizen services. The county’s 2026 work plan calls for hiring a consultant to examine possible program expansion, future public investment and the feasibility of establishing a continuing care retirement community in Summit County. The resulting plan is intended to inform County Council policy and budget decisions.

The county held two earlier feedback sessions in June. A dinner was held June 17 at the Ledges Event Center in Coalville, followed by a June 19 luncheon at the Park City Senior Center. Those meetings were open to all Summit County residents age 55 and older, including people who do not currently participate in county senior programming.

Summit County operates senior centers in Coalville, Park City and Kamas. Current services include group meals, social activities, day trips, volunteer opportunities and rides to medical appointments, subject to volunteer driver availability.
