Overnight lane reductions planned on SR-224 for drainage work as BRT construction continues

PARK CITY, Utah — Drivers on SR-224 should plan for overnight lane reductions over the next three weeks as crews continue work on High Valley Transit’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

According to an update from the Utah Department of Transportation, lane reductions will be in place in active work zones nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. while crews reline drainage pipes beneath the roadway.

The work will take place along SR-224 between the Payday/Holiday Ranch area and Ute Boulevard. Motorists should expect slower travel through the construction zone during overnight hours and use caution around workers and shifting traffic patterns.

The drainage work is part of High Valley Transit’s ongoing SR-224 BRT project, known as the Bobsled Express, which is designed to improve transit reliability and reduce congestion along one of Summit County’s busiest corridors. The project will eventually feature dedicated bus lanes, six stations, and frequent electric bus service connecting Kimball Junction with Old Town Park City.

Construction is expected to continue throughout the 2026 season, with various roadway, utility, and drainage improvements taking place along the corridor. Drivers are encouraged to slow down in work zones and allow extra travel time when driving through the area at night.

More information about the SR-224 BRT project, construction schedules and current traffic impacts is available at High Valley Transit’s SR-224 BRT project page.
