PARK CITY, Utah — Drivers traveling through Park City’s Old Town corridor should prepare for overnight lane closures as the Utah Department of Transportation begins a pavement preservation project along SR-224.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 3, and continue through the fall on approximately one mile of SR-224 between the Marsac Roundabout and the SR-248 (Kearns Boulevard) intersection.

The project is designed to extend the life of the roadway while improving safety, accessibility, and ride quality, according to UDOT.

To minimize impacts during the day, milling and paving operations will take place overnight between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., with work continuing until 8 a.m. on Sundays. During construction, motorists should expect temporary lane and shoulder closures, traffic shifts, reduced speeds through work zones, and travel delays.

In addition to resurfacing the roadway, the project includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pedestrian ramp upgrades, sidewalk improvements, new pavement markings and striping, sign replacements, traffic signal upgrades, and landscaping restoration.

Pedestrians and cyclists may also encounter temporary route adjustments while crews are working, and nearby residents can expect nighttime construction noise and lighting directed toward work areas.

Despite the construction, UDOT says access to homes, businesses, and transit stops will remain open throughout the project.

The preservation project is one of several transportation improvements underway in the Park City area this construction season.

Alongside the ongoing SR-224 Bus Rapid Transit project, UDOT is coordinating multiple road and bridge improvements across Summit County as part of a broader effort to build and upgrade transportation infrastructure.
