Dreaming of LA28? Here’s how to enter the next Olympic ticket draw

LOS ANGELES, California — If you’re hoping to cheer on Team USA in person at the 2028 Summer Olympics, your next opportunity to secure tickets is here — but it isn’t as simple as logging on when sales begin.

Instead, LA28 is using a lottery-style registration system that randomly assigns fans a chance to buy tickets during designated purchase windows.

Registration for the second Olympic ticket draw is now open and closes July 22.

Unlike a traditional first-come, first-served sale, fans must first create an LA28 account and register for the ticket draw. There’s no cost to register, and doing so simply enters applicants into a random selection process for an opportunity to purchase tickets.

Those selected will receive an email assigning them a specific purchase time slot. Fans who opt into the Visa presale and are selected will receive notifications beginning July 27 for shopping windows running July 29-31. Everyone else selected for this second ticket drop will be notified Aug. 6-7, with purchasing windows scheduled between Aug. 10-20.

Being selected for a time slot does not guarantee tickets to a particular event. During each ticket drop, purchases are made on a first-come, first-served basis while inventory lasts. Popular events, such as swimming finals, gymnastics, and the Opening Ceremony, are expected to sell quickly.

Fans only need to register once. Anyone who isn’t selected or who doesn’t reach their ticket purchase limit will automatically remain eligible for future ticket draws without re-registering.

The first round of Olympic ticket sales earlier this year generated enormous demand. LA28 says more than 4 million tickets have already been sold, with fans from all 50 states and 85 countries purchasing seats. Organizers also reported that roughly half of all Olympic tickets are priced below $200, while more than 1 million tickets will ultimately be available for $28.

Each person may purchase up to 12 Olympic event tickets, with separate limits applying to soccer matches and a four-ticket maximum for Opening and Closing Ceremony sessions.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be held in and around Los Angeles from July 14-30, 2028, marking the city’s third time hosting the Games after 1932 and 1984. Paralympic ticket sales are expected to begin in 2027.
