Uninvited and unbothered: Bobcat tours Wasatch County apartment

WASATCH COUNTY — A bobcat paid an unexpected visit to a Todd Hollow apartment in Wasatch County recently, apparently drawn in by the promise of a cat tree and perhaps a whiff of catnip.

The wild feline made itself at home, inspecting the accommodations before eventually letting itself out. Nobody was injured during the visit, according to the Utah Division of Natural Resources.

Wildlife encounters like this serve as a lighthearted but important reminder that Wasatch County residents share their surroundings with some curious neighbors. Bobcats are native to Utah and are occasionally spotted near residential areas, particularly in communities like Todd Hollow that border natural habitat.

While this particular visit ended without incident, wildlife officials generally advise residents to avoid approaching wild animals, secure food sources and pet doors, and contact the Utah DNR if a wild animal enters a home or poses a threat.
