PARK CITY — Park City High School held its graduation ceremony Friday at Deer Valley Resort, where students rode ski lifts to their commencement ceremony, sending off a class that earned nearly $7.4 million in scholarships and boasted a slate of academic and artistic achievements.

Principal Caleb Fine highlighted the class’s accomplishments across multiple areas. The school’s choir, wind symphony, jazz band and orchestra all received superior ratings — the highest available — at state competitions, and theater productions drew both laughter and tears from audiences throughout the year.

Academically, Fine said 34 graduates earned all-state recognition, 16 are Sterling Scholars and seven are National Merit Scholars or finalists.

Of the graduating class, 129 students plan to attend colleges, universities or trade schools — including 71% of first-generation college students — at 109 institutions across 36 states and five countries. Four graduates are entering the military.
In closing remarks, Fine urged the class to resist the idea that life should be effortless.
“The world is going to tell you that life should be easy,” he said. “I’m here to tell you that life is hard, and it’s in the hard that makes the beautiful.”
