Opera on the Patio returns to Park City Library this summer

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Library will host three free outdoor performances with Park City Opera this summer as part of the Opera on the Patio series, on July 1, 8 and August 5. All performances start at 6:30 p.m. and are expected to end at 8 p.m.
Now in its third season, Opera on the Patio offers live music in a relaxed outdoor setting on the Library Patio. Community members are invited to bring a picnic, gather with family and friends, and enjoy an evening of opera and song as the sun sets over Park City. Leashed dogs are welcome on the patio. No tickets or registration are required. Additionally, complimentary refreshments will be available to attendees at each performance (while supplies last) including snacks by Utah-founded Pop Art Snacks, and non-alcoholic sangria by TÖST.
Wednesday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m. This performance will feature Stephanie Chee and Lisl Wangermann as sopranos, Sam Plumb as tenor and Benjamin Beckman on piano. All four have performed with Park City Opera before and Wangermann and Beckman are founders of Park City Opera. They will be performing music by Jean Sibelius, Richard Strauss and American composers Amy Beach and Liza Lehmann, amongst other thematic repertoire.
Wednesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Once again Benjamin Beckman will play the piano. He maintains a very active schedule, being an assistant conductor for The Atlanta Opera and the rehearsal pianist and chorusmaster for the Pacific Opera Project as well as the conductor for Park City Opera. For this performance he is joined by Utah opera singers Akshay Ghiya and Ellie Niver as well as Texas-based Erik Danielson. This program pairs the intimate songs of Robert and Clara Schumann with the colorful music of Claude Debussy. There are many gems on this program, including Clara Schumann’s Sechs Lieder. All four of these performers will be performing in The Tender Land soon after this performance.
Wednesday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Enjoy music of the sea, including selections from The Pirates of Penzance, The Pearl Fishers, and other ocean-inspired works. This is the final performance of the season for Opera on the Patio.
If, after hearing all the performers who will also star in The Tender Land, you wish to see the full opera, you can enjoy it at Temple Har Shalom for a celebration of America’s 250th through music on July 18 & 19th. This opera is fully-staged, and performed in English with a chamber orchestra. Additionally, enjoy fiddle and dulcimer folk music, American light bites by Chef Galen Zamarra, and a cash bar with a specialty cocktail in partnership with Alpine Distillery.
