PARK CITY, Utah — The Live Like Sam Foundation is offering a packed slate of free summer opportunities for students in grades 6-12 across Summit and Wasatch counties, from a virtual resilience skills program to outdoor adventures and community volunteer events.
Thrive program
The foundation’s Thrive program, a free virtual well-being curriculum, is accepting registrations through July 1 for its summer session running July 6 through Aug. 14. Students meet once weekly for one hour on Zoom in small cohorts of up to 10 peers with a trained facilitator, covering topics including stress management, goal setting, healthy relationship strategies and restructuring negative thought patterns.
Participants who meet program requirements are eligible for a $60 cash stipend. Families can register at livelikesam.org/thrive before the July 1 deadline at 11:59 p.m.
Get outside, get involved
Beyond Thrive, the foundation’s Challenge Accepted adventure series kicks off June 18 with an intro to sailing at East Canyon State Park led by Summit Journeys professional staff. Other upcoming highlights include an evening hike along the Provo River on June 24, a yoga session at Newpark Amphitheater in Park City on June 28 and a hike to Blood’s Lake on June 30.
Teens in eighth grade and older can also give back through volunteer opportunities, including Summer Movie Night in Coalville on June 18 and Live Like Sam’s presence at both the Park City and Heber City Fourth of July celebrations.
