HEBER CITY, Utah — Students looking to earn volunteer hours while learning a new skill can sign up for Challenge Accepted: Work with Therapy Dogs, a hands-on training event scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event is a partnership between Live Like Sam and Rocky Mountain Therapy Dogs. Participants will train and work alongside real therapy dogs throughout the session, gaining experience in animal handling while contributing to their volunteer hour requirements.
The training day is part of Live Like Sam’s Challenge Accepted series, a lineup of free teen meet-ups designed to bring students together through shared activities and experiences. The program encourages teens to step outside their comfort zones and try something new, whether that means diving deeper into an existing passion or discovering a fresh one. Students can attend with a friend or on their own and are likely to meet others with similar interests along the way.
Students interested in this event or other Challenge Accepted programs must first complete an interest form. After submitting the form, participants will receive a follow-up email to finalize registration. Some events, including this one, may require a waiver signed by a parent or guardian before participating.
The event will take place at the Rocky Mountain Therapy Training Center in Heber, located at 1730 East Center Creek Drive, Heber City.
Parent volunteers are welcome to attend. Those interested in coordinating should email programs@livelikesam.org.
Space may be limited, so students and families are encouraged to complete the interest form and reach out ahead of time to confirm details and reserve a spot.
Additional Challenge Accepted events are scheduled throughout July for teens looking to get involved:
- Skate clinic with Namaste: July 24 from noon to 2 p.m. in Park City
- Volunteering with rescued horses: July 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Liberty Sanctuary in Heber
- Volunteering with the fire department: July 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in Heber
Students interested in any of these events can complete the interest form to receive registration details.
