Wasatch Mountain Film Festival brings outdoor films, community events to Salt Lake City this weekend

The 11th annual festival features adventure and environmental documentaries, filmmaker Q&As, yoga, climbing, skating, and community gatherings in the Granary District

SALT LAKE CITY — The Wasatch Mountain Film Festival returns this weekend with more than 40 adventure and environmental documentaries, bringing outdoor filmmakers, athletes, artists, and audiences together in Salt Lake City’s Granary District.

The 11th annual festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, with screenings, filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, and community events at evo Hotel, Boulder Project SLC, and Industry SLC, according to the festival.

The festival focuses on adventure and environmental documentary films, with programming rooted in outdoor culture, conservation, storytelling, and the landscapes of the Wasatch.

The Saturday schedule begins with a morning yoga session at Boulder Project SLC from 8 to 8:50 a.m., followed by Coffee & Creatives at evo Hotel from 10 to 11 a.m. The Adrenaline Junkies action sports film block runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at evo Hotel and includes a filmmaker Q&A.

Community events are also planned from 1 to 3 p.m., including a skate session at the All Together Skate Park at evo Hotel and a bouldering session at Salt Lake Bouldering Project, both at 660 S. 400 West.

Afternoon and evening screenings move to Industry SLC, 650 S. 500 West. “MISSe-en-scène,” a women directors film block, is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. The “Protecting Our Playground” environmental impact film block, presented by the Utah Film Commission, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes a panel discussion before the screening block and filmmaker Q&A.

Festival organizers describe the event as a gathering place for outdoor filmmakers, athletes, artists, and audiences, with programming designed to connect people through stories about adventure, conservation, and the human experience in mountain communities.

Festival passes are available online. The festival lists student passes at $50 and standard in-person passes at $100, with access to screening blocks, panel discussions, and Saturday community activations.
