Rise and shine: new Italian bakery brings free focaccia party to Main Street

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City’s lunch break is about to smell a lot better. Marvelli, a new Italian artisan bread company based in Kamas and Park City, will introduce itself to the community with a free launch party on Monday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mountain Town Olive Oil Co., 613 Main St.

The midday event pairs Marvelli’s freshly baked focaccia with Mountain Town Olive Oil Co.’s new charcuterie and cheese offerings, and all tastings are on the house. Main Street workers, locals and visitors are invited to stop by on their lunch break for a bite, and a chance to meet the baker behind the dough.

The recipe keeps things refreshingly simple: just six ingredients, including 100% imported Italian flour and semolina, ultra-premium extra virgin olive oil from Mountain Town Olive Oil, imported Italian yeast, Sicilian sea salt, and rosemary in some loaves, and water.

Founder Emile Levisetti traces his family roots to Genoa, the birthplace of focaccia, and trained under James Beard Award-winning chef Tony Mantuano at Chicago’s Spiaggia. After a career in Hollywood television production, he settled in Park City to pursue what the company describes as a lifelong passion for pure, honest bread.

“Bread has been made with a handful of simple ingredients for thousands of years, and then America changed it,” Levisetti said. “We’re bringing it back to what it should be: real flour, real olive oil, nothing to hide. When you taste it, your body knows the difference.”

Marvelli said it conducted a national search for the best extra virgin olive oil before landing on Mountain Town Olive Oil, concluding the Park City shop offers some of the highest-quality oils in the country.

Mountain Town Olive Oil Co. has been a fixture on Historic Main Street since 2009. The shop is known for its wide selection of extra virgin olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars, and it will debut new charcuterie and cheese offerings alongside Marvelli’s bread at Monday’s event.
