Police Log: Trailhead theft at Run-A-Muk, meth arrest, and deer collisions

Park City police and Summit County deputies responded to DUI investigations, suspected vehicle burglaries, and drug-related arrests last week including a pursuit tied to break-ins at the Run-A-Muk parking lot.
On May 13, deputies received reports that two vehicles had been broken into at the Run-A-Muk Trailhead. A suspect was later located driving a silver van in Park City, but fled when officers attempted a traffic stop. The pursuit was eventually terminated when deputies lost visual on the car near the Interstate 80 and S.R. 224 junction.
Other notable incidents included a DUI arrest after a driver was spotted traveling the wrong way on Bitner Road, an attempted burglary at World Market, and several wildlife-related calls involving deer and ducks struck by vehicles.
Monday, May 11
Incident: Parking violation
An officer located a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone on Poison Creek Lane. The vehicle was issued a parking warning.
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped on Wyatt Earp Way for an illegal left turn. During the stop, officers discovered the no-left-turn sign was not functioning properly.
Tuesday, May 12
Incident: Vehicle accident
A vehicle that appeared to have struck a deer was reported stopped in the middle of U.S. 40 eastbound.
Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a driver on Bitner Road after observing the vehicle travel the wrong way before correcting course. Signs of impairment were observed, and the driver was arrested after performing poorly on field sobriety tests.
Wednesday, May 13
Incident: Property damage accident
A driver on Kearns Boulevard reported hitting a deer. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was moved to a nearby parking lot.
Incident: Abandoned vehicle
A vehicle was reported abandoned along Round Valley Drive for approximately two weeks and partially blocking the bike lane.
Incident: Vehicle burglary / Pursuit
Deputies responded to reports of two vehicles being broken into at the Run-A-Muck Trailhead after a suspect was seen climbing out of a broken vehicle window. Officers later attempted to stop a silver van connected to the case, but the driver fled. A pursuit was initiated before the suspect was lost near the I-80 and S.R. 224 junction.
Incident: Property damage / Attempted burglary
Deputies investigated an attempted commercial burglary at World Market on Uinta Way after significant damage was discovered to entry doors, windows, and a loading dock door. No items were reported stolen, but damage is estimated at approximately $4800.
Thursday, May 14
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver on U.S. 40 eastbound was stopped for impeding traffic after traveling below the speed limit and forcing multiple vehicles to pass on the right.
Incident: Citizen assist
A resident on Deer Valley Drive requested to speak with officers regarding a drone reportedly buzzing near her windows.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A loud hot tub party involving several people was reported on Park Avenue late at night.
Friday, May 15
Incident: Non-injury accident
A garbage truck and an SUV were involved in a collision on McHenry Avenue. No injuries were reported.
Incident: Drugs
Deputies made contact with a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot that was associated with active warrants. A K9 alerted on the vehicle, and a subsequent search uncovered methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested on drug charges and multiple warrants.
Saturday, May 16
Incident: Wildlife problem
A duck was reportedly struck by a vehicle near Kearns Boulevard and Wyatt Earp Way.
