Police Log: Drug arrests, car wash burglary, and distracted drivers

Park City police and Summit County deputies responded to several drug- and alcohol-related incidents last week, including an Interstate 80 traffic stop that led to a narcotics arrest and another case involving a driver found asleep in a running vehicle with open containers visible inside.
On Thursday, deputies stopped a speeding vehicle on I-80 eastbound and later discovered controlled substances and drug paraphernalia during a search. A second drug-related traffic stop the following day resulted in citations for possession of marijuana, cocaine paraphernalia and multiple vehicle violations.
Other notable incidents included a burglary at a Kamas car wash where a safe containing cash was stolen; multiple wildlife-related calls involving moose, deer, and an injured duck; and ongoing complaints about traffic hazards and loud late-night parties.
Monday, May 4
Incident: Wildlife problem
A moose was reported running along Meadows Drive toward SR-224.
Tuesday, May 5
Incident: Suspicious activity
A caller on Three Kings Drive reported hearing loud noises and believed someone may have been inside a parking garage going through trash or vehicles.
Incident: Parking violation
A vehicle was reported parked in a 15-minute loading zone behind the Park City High School baseball field on Lucky John Drive.
Wednesday, May 6
Incident: Traffic hazard
A dead deer was reported in a lane of travel on SR-248 near Heber, forcing drivers to maneuver around it.
Thursday, May 7
Incident: Traffic hazard
A stop sign was reported knocked down near Hillside Avenue and Daly Avenue.
Incident: Drugs
Deputies stopped a speeding vehicle on I-80 eastbound and discovered controlled substances and drug paraphernalia during a search. The driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded.
Friday, May 8
Incident: Reckless driving
A motorcycle traveling more than 100 mph was reported on I-80 eastbound.
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped near 11th Street and Park Avenue for distracted driving.
Incident: Wildlife problem
An injured duck was reported near Deer Valley Drive.
Incident: Drugs
Following a traffic stop near the U.S. 40 westbound on-ramp, deputies located marijuana, cocaine paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol inside a vehicle. The driver was cited and the vehicle impounded.
Incident: DUI
A driver stopped near Hoytsville Road was arrested after deputies determined the individual was driving under the influence while also violating license and ignition interlock restrictions.
Saturday, May 9
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver on Main Street near Deer Valley Drive was stopped for using a cellphone while driving.
Incident: Parking problem
Two vehicles were reported illegally parked near the Cove Trailhead on Meadows Drive, partially blocking the sidewalk.
Sunday, May 10
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A loud late-night hot tub party was reported on Rothwell Road.
Incident: Injury accident
A three-vehicle crash with airbags deployed was reported on southbound I-15 near mile marker 295.
Incident: DUI / Intoxication
Deputies responded to Pinebrook Boulevard after a running vehicle blocked another car for more than an hour. Open containers were visible inside, and the driver resisted officers after being awakened before being arrested.
Incident: Burglary
A safe containing cash was reported stolen from Powder Peaks Car Wash in Kamas. The case was forwarded to investigations.
