Utah unveils limited-time “America 250” license plate

UTAH — Utah drivers will soon have a new license plate option, as the state’s Design Review Board has unveiled a limited-time “America 250” standard-issue plate.

The design features a deep blue background with a 1776 American flag motif along the left side, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

“Utahns are excited to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and reflect on the principles that have shaped our nation,” said Dan McCay, who represents the Senate on the board. “This plate is a simple way for people across our state to show that pride and be part of this historic milestone.”

The plate will be available through the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles beginning June 1, with sales running through July 31, 2027. Standard registration and plate fees will apply.

Drivers can request the plate during registration renewal or at any time online at the DMV’s website or by visiting a local office.

The plate may also be personalized for an additional fee, though the combination “USA250” will not be available, according to officials.

This is one of many programs Utah is planning for the America 250 celebration.
