Traffic alert: Gas leak closes stretch of SR-248 in Park City

PARK CITY, Utah — A portion of Kearns Boulevard (SR-248) is closed Tuesday afternoon as emergency crews respond to a confirmed gas leak.

The section of Kearns Boulevard between Bonanza Drive and Park Avenue is closed indefinitely, according to city staff, with a detour in place to route traffic around the area. Drivers are advised to avoid the corridor if possible.

City staff confirmed an unmarked 1-inch gas service line was struck during excavation for Rocky Mountain Power conduits as part of an ongoing transmission line undergrounding project.

Enbridge Gas crews are on site working to repair the line and reopen the roadway as soon as it is safe to do so. Fire and police personnel are also at the scene, and all impacted businesses have been contacted.

Construction has been underway since early April along the Kearns Boulevard corridor, bringing detours and lane reductions to one of Park City’s busiest roadways.

No injuries or evacuations have been reported at this time.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
